Regions Beyond
As a Church aiming to be shaped by the Word of God we believe not only in establishing the church in the area that we live in but reaching to regions beyond. Jesus commanded us to ‘go and make disciples of all nations’ ie all ethnic groups, peoples, clans, and families. God’s blessing upon Abraham extends to ‘all families of the earth’. Psalm 67 exclaims ‘May the peoples praise you O God, may all the peoples praise you!’ Jesus said that He would return when the gospel of the kingdom has been preached to all peoples. Paul says to the Corinthian church that he wanted to build effectively amongst them ‘so that we can preach the gospel in the regions beyond you.’ For this reason and others we are involved in other nations in Uganda, Sudan and India.
We are also challenged by Scriptures like Isaiah 58 which urge us to serve the ‘poor’ – the naked, the starving, the destitute, the lost, the burdened, the widow, the orphan, those who have been oppressed and suffer injustice – in fact to ‘spend ourselves’ on such a task. The NT church had the same mandate as they reached out to the gentiles. Paul and his team were instructed to ‘continue to remember the poor’, something Paul was eager to do.
These people exist here in UK and overseas.
We are excited too by the way the church is growing in places like Israel. We are stirred by Romans 9-11 to build the church here and to pray for the emerging church in Israel. A number of our members are involved in ministries in the Middle East both amongst Jews and Moslems. Links to their web sites are below.
